My Mimi is really cute!

When I rescued my Mimi, she already has been examined by a Vet and has been vaccinated from all of the shots. She also has been spayed. Mimi is a very beautiful and playful cat. She like to play with me and she is so sweet, always following me wherever I go at home. I really appreciate "Give Me Shelter" for bringing this cute cat into my life!

Zeus, the Tiny Black Leopard

Zeus was adopted but, sadly, his human became extremely ill and ended up in the hospital. We, at Bastet's Kindle, felt it was best for him to return to the shop. He's been back a few weeks and we are thrilled with his progress. Much to our surprise, especially Leslie's when she was up on a ladder and pulled out a plastic bin and there he was, he has a hiding spot in the highest point of our storeroom. We're not sure how he gets there, maybe he can fly. Anyway, he is welcoming strokes and hugs from more and more people, and today came up and sat on the table by the front door. He even has a little swagger to his stride now. He is quite the magnificent character and will make someone very, very happy.

Miss Ashkey

Miss Ashkey continues to make progress here at Bastet's Kindle. We have been working very lovingly and consistently with her to help her get over her loss. Unbeknownst to her, she is the poster child for the Kubler-Ross model, commonly known as the 5 stages of grief. We hope we are creeping up on Stage #5, Acceptance.

Ashkey loved someone, a man we believe, as much as any cat can love anyone. She continues to look for him and hopes for him to find her. As she meets new people, she has a flash of hope, followed by anger or depression when she realizes "it ain't him."

So we have given her lots and lots of toys, a super soft bed, important play time, and many, many hugs and kisses. Yesterday, a little girl played with her for over an hour and Ashkey seemed very happy about it afterwards.

A remarkable person, man or woman, needs to adopt this remarkable cat and take a lifetime to show her that a broken heart can be repaired.

Madame Grace

We continue to be awed by Amazing Grace, Queen of the shop.

Maxx (aka Sunshine)

In the summer of 2008 my partner & I were mourning the loss of our beloved Orange Tabby Little Dude at age 2, at en weeks of age he was diagnosed with a malformed heart and given 1-3 years to live, we couod not let him live his life out in cage in the SPCA Hospital, anyway we wanted another Orange Tabby, we were shopping in the Daly City Petsmart I met Johanna she said they had several orange Boys on their website I should go online pick out one let them konw which one and they would bring him there, I found a beautiful 10 week old boy named Sunshine, he was perfect, the next weekend we went to Petsmart to ask if they could bring him however when we arrived, who should be in a cage but Sunshine and believe me he certainly was a ray of light, I ran to the bank across the parking lot and withdrew the money and he was on his way home with us, he however did ask for a name change, so we (or he) Chose Maxx, he fit in perfectly with Venus & Azul, Venus arrived a week before him s
o they are the same age and Azul a Russian Blue is a year older, he has developed into a very loving beautiful boy, who sleeps in my arms and loves belly rubs, Maxx Venus & Azul are our "Second Kitty family" we raised 5 other cats to the age of 17-18, the last of them passed about a year before maxx chose us, I thank your organization every day for giving me my little Snuggle Bunny, here he is with his sisters Azul (Grey) & Venus (Black)
